In Memory of Phil Snyder

Picture3
In 1981, Phil Snyder began his journey as an entrepreneur with his brother Frank, starting an air conditioning company named Snyder Commercial Services; all things residential heating and cooling as well as commercial work with Luby's and Peter Piper Pizza's Valley wide.

Snyder Commercial Services went through many changes including a name change to Snyder Air Conditioning and all commercial work was discontinued and we became "Your Whole House Comfort Specialist" servicing the lower Rio Grande Valley.

In 2010, Phil was thinking more and more about retirement and the future of the company that he had built , (the partnership with his brother stopped in 2003) and he asked Hector and Dorinda to be his business partners.

Phil was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer and on August 4, 2019, he closed his eyes on earth and woke up in Heaven; ten days before his 70th birthday.

Phil loved God, his family, his friends and his business. He loved fishing. Phil was just a loving man. He was our mentor, our friend, our “Boss.”

In January 2014 the Valley Morning Star did a Question & Answer write-up on Snyder Air Conditioning. One of the questions was: What is the main focus of your company? Phil’s response was: “Customer service. Our whole concept is client retention. We want to gain the trust of our clients and give them quality service and the best value for their money.”

Phil left us a great legacy. As we continue serving our great community and our wonderful clients, we will uphold the many things that he taught us and instilled in us. We will follow the guidelines that he laid out before us.

Phil was greatly loved and admired and we miss him greatly.

Questions & Answers
Frequently Asked Questions

What is the average life of an HVAC unit?
The majority of HVAC units can last up to 10 years, assuming they are properly maintained. You may need an occasional repair along the way, but Snyder Air Conditioning can usually catch and fix small problems during annual checks. Subscribe to the SNYDER MEMBERSHIP PROGRAM for savings!

What is the cost of a new system?
This will depend on the size of your home and the type of unit, but you can expect that Snyder will save you money on every corner. Keep in mind that if money is an issue, we can help you explore different financing options. Subscribe to the SNYDER MEMBERSHIP PROGRAM for savings!

What is SEER?
This refers to the Seasonal Energy Efficiency Rating (SEER). Every air conditioner has one. The higher the number, the more efficient your unit is. The current industry minimum is 14.3 for new air conditioners, but some cutting edge equipment can reach a SEER as high as 21. While a unit with a higher SEER may have a higher initial cost, the lower monthly operating costs would save you money over the life of the system.

Should I set my thermostat fan switch to "auto" or "on" when running my AC?
In the interest of keeping cooling costs down, you should use the “auto” setting so that the fan runs only when needed to maintain the set temperature. However, if you prefer a more consistent temperature, then the “on” setting will ensure uninterrupted airflow. This can be beneficial if you have asthma or allergies because the air would be constantly filtered as it flows through the system.

How often does my HVAC unit need maintenance?
Your unit needs to be maintained at least once a year, especially if you have warranty left on your equipment. With SNYDER'S MEMBERSHIP PROGRAM we offer service twice a year.
